PSX bin/cue with ape files....

Postby Smashey9 » Sun May 20, 2012 4:29 am

I asked a long time ago. No one knew. I still havnt figured it out. Ive seen random stuff on the web, and I never see a clear cut answer on wtf to do to get this on a disc.

PSX--- well in a perfect world, you have a bin/cue and burn the cue. Simple huh?

There are games I really want, but no clue how to burn them.

This one for example. Its a Japanese game called Gaia Seed.

The files I get are:

Track 01.bin.ecm----- no problem there, just unecm it and there is your bin
The cue file---- cool, now we got a bin and cue

Then.......29 f***ing ape files..... its all the sound in the game. Now ive read that ape files are Monkey Audio files, and you can use Monkey Audio to change them all to wav....well then what? lol.

Hopefully someone has come along since i asked a long time ago that knows what to do. If it were just one game, i wouldnt care. But there are quite a few japan games out there that just arent easy to find. Except for these ape headache files.

Here is the file listing for this particular game

Code: Select all

You have a redump image and they made a tool to get the right file as seen here

http://psxhaven.com/forum/index.php?topic=30003.0;wap2

Or simply un-ecm the file then convert APE to WAV files and burn. The cuesheet is ready to go.

it's a twat's move is that kind of filing...been there!! i'm SURE they do it on purpose to piss people off to the max!!(drives one bat-shit crazy)
i could be wrong but "ape" is an archive similar to "arc" and "bzip"...
anyway, the ONLY way i know to extract those brainfucks is "winace" (there will be more but...) sorry if this doesn't help...

They do it to save as much space as possible as the set is over 1tb now and not even done. Extracted takes up over 3tb so I have no problem with those files as I prefer them. Just double click packiso and wait three minutes and burn. It is just the standard to ensure you have a complete 1:1 image that others can rip from their disc and join in on seeding or to make a backup perfectly.

^^ is true...i noticed a MASSIVE space saving BUT if i encounter ANY of that s*** and i can successfully reverse the item back to it's 1/1 state, i'l make it so.....
if the fucker doesn't exist here (yours accounted for) then i upload it.....
...just one of them...i HATE those things as i run into extraction problems all the freaking time....
I'LL 1/1 the bastard back to originality, i REALLY don't mind and I INSIST upon it!!!
(hdd space nowadays...pfft...set arc to max phasers)

Ill have to redownload it and try converting the apes to wavs.

I used unpakkiso and all it did was turn my 29 ape files into 29 bin files lol....

I just want a bin and cue

You will not get just a bin and cue man that is the CDDA and will burn just fine. Just open the cue in notepad and you will see all the newly made files and it will burn just fine using IMGBurn. It is the same for Dreamcast games with CDDA tracks not embedded into a CDI. MK Trilogy is another like this but once you have the bin's and cue you can just mount the cuesheet as well and make a single bin cue out of it if you want. Just don't use Alcohol 120% as it will make the audio off if you rip with it, I suggest IMGBurn again to rip.
