...to these forums, felt a 'thank you immeasurably' was long overdue as I've plundered the site for original xbox backups for a while now. So cheers for that guys, from the depths...!

I've now just successfully (though it's early days) softmodded my ancient PS2 and stuck a 1tb HDD in there. No doubt further plundering is ahoy 8-) though I've a ton of discs to back up first. As a fan of creepy Japanese horror / headf*** games it looks like I'll be filling my boots somewhat. Nice.

As I'm feeling my way into OPL and FTPing and all that (it's soooo much more straightforward on the xbox!) I'll post any successes or useful info I might come across. So far a fiddle with OPLs settings for The Fear have yielded seemingly decent results, but I guess all that carry-on is for the relevant sub-forums so I'l shut up and leave it with Hi, and Cheers!

As for personal bio, old git, lives in England ;)

Everyone is a noob at some point. Welcome to TIZ....
You have to check out CoinOPS for that Xbox. It doesn't get much better than CO once you get the hang of it. :lovetiz:

TBH I'm not too fussed on Coin Ops, there's prolly only a handful of ancient arcade games I'd be bothered to play. One day maybe. I did miss out on the orig xbox at the time, had a PS2 and that was that, so it's been cool to appreciate the differences / comparisons, and in some cases have my illusion that xbox = better than ps2 and that's that broken, the Silent Hill's being a case in point.

That said I've been noseying at the xbox Vic 20 emulator, seems it's just easier to do all that on a PC, but when my head is that far back in time, the coin ops thing does chime in a little. I've a feeling these 'ere survival etc horror games I've got lined up to play will be occupying the next year or so 8-)

Oo and thanks for the welcome :)

Welcome to TiZ, Andes. Isn't gaming HDD gaming on the fat PS2 and original Xbox just amazing (I agree, much more straight foward on the Xbox)?! If you haven't already, I suggest checking out Hypervision in the download section. If you're a fan of lovely front ends (and Hyperspin), it would make an awesome addition to the box ... I just installed it myself last night (it's literally a drag and drop affair) :)

Well as a general rule I much prefer older games to new spangly-dangly stuff. I've got an Xbox 1 and literally it's good for Black Ops 3 and, er, being able to play X360 games with a better cotroller. I say 'games' but that means Silent Hill Downpour so, er, game. Now I' looking forward to which OGXbox (or Xbox None as I call it) games will be made BC. Absolutely zero interest in new xb1-specific games, it's all the same old same old with fancier graphics, but that doesn't equal better graphics to me, the PS2 Silent Hills (well 2, 3 & 4) have mindblowing graphics, and Shadow of the Colossus remains my favourite game of all time. It usurped Llamasoft's Vic-20 collection to claim top spot, a fair indicator of where my head's at gaming-wise

Questions regarding PS2 modding are starting to build up, I do like to try sort them myself initially, that's all part of the fun, but I'll certainly be picking the forum's brains before long :)

Cheers again, shame I didnt join earlier but hey better late than etc

You might be right! The xbox was the first piece of machinery that I messed around with successfully so that's the noob bit taken care of  I always figured PC gaming was something for the dextrous of finger, after a brief attempt at Tomb Raider in 96 I was left with fingers that felt like they'd just spent 90 minutes trying to mark Ryan Giggs  I do play the occasional TR custom level on the PC these days (with PS2 controller, of course), and I run Vic 20 and PS1 emulators on it rather than the xbox, but I've never really felt any urge to dig any deeper than that. One day... (he says, knowing that at least the next year is spoken for by the recent influx of PS2 horror games into my collection 8-) ).

Cheers for the welcome :D
