Yet another oddity for the collection.

Postby Sayt » Thu Apr 19, 2018 7:08 pm

Went to the Midwest Classic Gaming convention with BobDole and Scifiwasabi from TIZ over the weekend. After bumping into the one and only Billy Mitchell and wandering around trying to figure out a console to grab while I was there, I decided to snag a Goldstar 3DO!

Isn't Goldstar LG now?

I never did play the Goldstar 3DO, I still have my panasonic FZ-10, unfortunately it doesn't spin the discs anymore. I loved the 3DO back in the day, hope you get some good use out of it!

Can't believe Billy Mitchell would be showing his face after this whole scandal.

He showed up to do some sort of impromptu response to all the allegations. He decided to double down on saying he can prove he didn't cheat, etc. Lmao.

Sadly the Goldstar 3DO is the only one that doesn't easily play ''backups'', if that was your intention you'd better get used to removing the lid and disc-swapping. I got bored of doing that with mine so just boxed it up and slung the twat in my store room.

Nice pick up, welcome to the 3do club.
Goldstar is really fussy when reading discs though unfortunately.

Great pickup, well done.

LG (Lucky Goldstar) is indeed the new name for Goldstar, I remember there budget video recorders back in the late 80's early 90's.

Here's a piccy of it ..

Sayt and I have came to the agreement that he is giving me this mediocre piece of hardware for free so that it doesn't take up space in his collection.

I have made no such agreement dangit.

As far as the price I paid, it wasn't a 'score', and if anything I might have overpaid slightly but hell, that's the fun of impulsive convention purchasing. I spent $130 on it if I remember correctly? It did come with a controller and A/V cables, which was nice.

As far as burning games go, I had no success with cheaper brand CD's but I bought a spool of some Taiyo Yuden discs and those have been reading just fine with every game I've tested so far.
