Best DDR Pad for Gamecube/Wii?

Postby Silverfrost208 » Thu Mar 22, 2018 9:19 pm

I am looking forward to purchase a DDR Pad for my Gamecube/Wii. I am interested in trying a silly but fun control scheme like playing Pokemon with a DDR pad. During my search I found out that not all dance pads work flawlessly anymore but I am open to everyone's opinions and beliefs on what the best DDR pad to get that has a gamecube port.

Go to newegg and search for ddr dance pad. They have one that works on wii. It is arcade quality but will set you back about $400 but it would be way better than those plastic pads that can slip around. If you are looking to go cheap then those are probably all the choice you have and it becomes picking the best of the worst.

I had a bit of a head scratch on this and thought 'would an old PS1 pad or mat work on an adapter' and it turns out it does on both GC and Wii as a Classic Controller.

I'm not into DDR in any way shape or form but do have a few mats and Mini pads for each console where they exist, you pick them up with full systems don't you.

The Mini Pads are still easy to find I'm sure and I expect a full sized one will work the same, The white Wii adapter was £1 a few years ago and I found them on fleabay just now but for a bit more and the PS1/2 to XBOX/GC/PC adapter are now a bit harder to find and just under £10 now on Amazon and fleabay.

Below are the adapters and Mini DDR Pad I used and the button mappings, the up, down, left and right are as you'd expect on both consoles so I didn't fill them in and the blank buttons on the GC mapping are because nothing worked when I pressed them, I used Ein Button tester, an older Wii homebrew program.

The last thing I should say is if you use an extension cable for the GC make sure it's on the PlayStation side, it seems to need more of the wires and won't work if you use a GC one TO the adapter.

The Konami one for dreamcast works fine, but you'll need an adapter for gamecube or wii. Not sur e about it being done ...
