What game system look better on shelves?

Postby steven1977 » Wed Oct 11, 2017 7:22 pm

Im thinking about redoing the bedroom up and for years Ive always stored my PS2 games (about 150 approx) on them but now Ive been building up a collection of Retro games I was wondering if its worth putting the PS2 games away and putting something else in their place be it Master System ( alough the basic covers arent impressive), MegaDrive/CD games.

I know I wouldn't store my NES/SNES/N64 games there because none of them have boxes and PSX games Ive kept in a unit with a door to hide them away. Can't really think of anything else I own maybe a few C64/ZX Specrum games or a box of 3Do ones with badly printed covers.

So after a bit of advice on what to do.

The only advice i could give you is from my own experience Ive been if your spot before. Id say just go with what you feel is right. Put games where you think is right for them to go. Sorry if my explanation skills are a bit off :lovetiz:

Personally my preferred are the Neo-Geo ones
in first place the avs types (BIIIIG!)
but the cd types are also great :)

I´m a sucker for Big Box PC games, I´d prefer having just 3 or 4 with amazing cover art on display instead of tons of DVD / CD-Jewel Cases from console games.

I display the games I like the most - not just games of a certain console.

So I have some of my favorite Wrestling, Zelda, Mario, Contra, Metroid and Castlevania games for me and visitors to see.

What ever system is YOUR No.1 should have the pride of place :)
If i displayed all my computers and consoles over the years, I'd run out of room fast !

I have PS1/PS2 and PSP games on display. My 360 games live under 360 in draws
PS2 takes most room, but then again I am a PS2 nutter

I'd try and aim for all of them if you have the room, they deserve that, and you've paid for them and you're gonna play them too even if it's very rarely for some, make certain some stand out, custom made shelving or buy Perspex book stands, whatever suits the room, your budget and the amount of space you have.

The badly printed out ones I'd hide or re-do and the Master System would be spine visible only as they are a bit dull.

Whatever you do stick a picture or 2 in the games room thread as I for one would like to see how you did.

Yeah I will do. The 3Do ones are stored in a box out of the way for now and the PSX titles are in a cupboard but with the door closed. I don't know why but the PS2 game spines look so unappealing and have looked that way for many years as they are just white with black text.

Mostly Amiga Stuff that i love the most.
For games you can buy Ikea bookshelves with glass doors and make a nice display for the games.
For the consoles if you have them on display be prepared for some serious cleaning at least once a month (if you dont smoke on the same room :)
