scphxxxx is the model number of the actual playstation. each new model released had a bios variant from the previous. the larger the number, the newer the bios/model. its generally accepted that scph1001 is the best for emulation.

I'm guessing copy the .bins to a bios folder in your emulator OR put it in the same folder as the executable OR put them in the same folder a your disc images.
Just guessing.. I've never used psxr.

With Psx, put bios(s) in the bios folder. When this is first run, you can choose which to use in there. Couple of those I think are to play pal games:). I've used this emu. before. Faithfully recreates the actual Ps with nothing missing on screen (i.e. Space Griffen) whereas ePSXE has some probs. (Preference) Thank you Curbside :)

I found a pack on another site that included the above and 41A/1000/1002/3000/3500/5501/5552. Why are there so many of em? I thought there were only 3 main regions (NTSC-U/NTSC-J/PAL)??

Different revisions of the BIOS include Anti-Chip code and such. Every version of the console has it's own BIOS
