Ripped: Internet feature, japanese voices.
Downsampled: Sound monoized (including video's), FMV downsampled.
Source: GD dump and Echelon's release.

As I promised, here is my single disc release of Sonic Adventure 2. It was much harder to do this than I thought (cost me one full day of work!), but at least the result got nice. It's much superior than Echelon's version, I hope you like it.

I had my first problem when monoizing the sound. The music had something different on its header so Darkfalz's loop calculator found wrong loop data. It means that when repeating, music behaviour was terrible and took playing to the wrong place. After some research, I found no other tool capable of getting the loop samples that I needed. So after some more research I found a description about ADX header, so I could write my own tool to extract loop data. Fortunately, the data I took was correct, so music got perfect. First problem solved.

Note that I used a high quality decoder, so monoized music has high quality. Echelon guys used a decoder that made low quality output with 32khz input (frequency of most songs of this game), so my release has better mono songs. Echelon guys also decided to keep some songs stereo (sacrificing video quality), but I monoized all. There were some Chao songs that were mono already, so I let them untouched.

Hard part done? No. When I started working on videos I noticed another problem. Video had 2 audio streams: first one with japanese audio and second one with english audio. At first look there was no problem, but I had no idea of how multiplexing things back after downsampling. Dreamcast Movie Maker (that I used as multiplexer) was only capable of multiplexing one audio stream. After (some more!) research I found a rare tool. It was hidden among lots of posts on a forum and was made by a guy called Zench. He used a DLL of CRI's multiplexer and wrote a wrapper for it, so it could be used as a windows tool. Using that, I was able to multiplex video as it was, with two audio streams. Well, maybe you're asking why worrying about both streams if we only need english audio. The reason is simple: english was the second stream. Using only a stream made video play fine when japanese audio was selected, but made game freezes when english audio was selected. Well, after finally finding how to multiplex video, I replaced japanese audio with a 1 second crap quality sound and monoized english audio. Video was downsampled using VBR, so quality got very nice (much better than Echelon's release!).

There were some videos used in effects of real time cutscenes in the game. Echelon had downsampled them, I kept them intact.

The rest of work was a piece of cake, because I already had my optimized file order that I used in my split release.

By the way, I used Echelon's binaries (the patched version, so game works until the end) in my release. This game had tons of protection checks (play the GDI in NullDC and check how often game check the LBA near 45000), and Echelon made an awesome job cracking them. Without them, this release would not be possible.

If you want a version with full quality videos (no downsampling) and stereo sound, check my split release of Sonic Adventure 2. But if you're too lazy to change discs, this version is perfect for you. This is the best experience possible in one disc. Have fun.

Features of my release:
- Not corrupted files at all, it was made with GD dump and Echelon's release.
- Media with higher quality than other releases.
- Used custom file order. It helps loading times and Dreamcast reader noise.
- Selfboot.

About the game:
- It has VGA Box support.

Other comments:
- "Extras" folder in the pack contains some useless stuff, including wallpapers that were in CD part of GD.
- Release comes with manual and covers.

I'll DL it and test it out. Seeing as it is a DCRes release I'm guessing it is as good as gold...but I'll find out for sure.

Man it is a DC game did you bother to download it? If it is an ecm file use the unpacker that comes with it and then burn the CDI with discjuggler, Alcohol 120%, IMGBurn, mount with dameon tools and use what ever program you feel like.

To be a bit more serious, what to burn with isn't really a concern if it's a CDI. Just use what atreyu mentioned. If it's anything else, you probably shouldn't bother burning it at all because it's either A) non selfbooting or B) a re-rip.

Working good on my emulator, although the sound gets out of synch during cutscenes. Aside that, it's way quicker than the other I had.

I can confirm that it DOES NOT SAVE CHAO DATA! Tried every way possible: with 3 different PAL Dreamcast systems, with official and 3rd party VMU's, rumble packs unplugged, etc... so if someone wants to save chao data i highly recommend to skip this release.

Note that it seems this bug is related to the Echelon release files becouse the old echelon rip gaves the same error as this one.

I found out that the only problem for the game is to create a save file, so if someone put a chao data save file to the vmu from a VMU backup CD for example, it will work. Just make sure you will use this vmu in the A1 port when playing the game.

It's because Tux used Echelon's binaries to make this game so any error's present in theirs is going to be in the "repack" kings stolen work he claims was all his handy work.

So, after spending 5 hours playing through all the stories. The "!" mark wouldn't show up whenever I'm near a Master Emerald shard, or was that added in the Gamecube version? Tails and Eggman seem to have two different voice clips for jumping, and I never noticed that NiGHTs statue in Radical Highway.

Didn't work for me, burned it with the recommended Discjuggler settings posted on this site, and with different settings, still wouldn't play, maybe is because its PAL version? I have a NTSC Dreamcast, I tried a NTSC version some where else, and it did work, I've also burned few other games with the recommended settings, and they all mostly worked.
