They hunger episodes 1 through 3 have finaly been ported over by Dreammatrix and after many months of hard work, the final version is here for you to enjoy on your Sega Dreamcast! This is a full stand alone game now!

Originaly Cantstraferight did the port in the early stages of only episode 1 some years ago, but had abandoned the project in 2008. Dreammatrix picked up the flag in 2010 and after 4 internal betas, it is here for you to finaly enjoy They Hunger on a console for the first time!

Changelog:
Fixed some problems on textures inside the pvr.wads
Ported all monsters entities for they hunger ep3 from einar.dll to HLDC(Now it is a full port)
Decompiled and recompiled map they 55.
Added some new models from They hunger HD-PAK
Added save suport (but not on all levels, a message will apear when you can save...)
Added a faster and stronger zombie type, exclusive for the dreamcast version
Ported one sniper weapon from einiar.dll to hldc on Theyhunger 1 and 2 (i forgot to change it)

They Hunger is a single player horror based mod of Valve's first-person shooter Half-Life. It was released by Neil Manke's Black Widow Games in three episodes, the first in 1999, the second in 2000, and the final installment in 2001. All three were at one point bundled with PC Gamer magazine.

Your publisher rents you a house in the country and you are on your way there to rest, write, and recoup. During the course of your drive the relaxing radio music is broken by a hurried annoucement, "This is BMRF radio bringing you a special news report! Unknown atmospheric phenomena have been reported throughout the area. Meteorologists have been unable to identify the source of the strange electrical displays but we will keep you informed of any developements. We return you now to our regular programming".

"... ah, probably nothing", you think.

Glad you liked it! As a little side note, only save the game when the system message tells you to, otherwise you could glitch out of the map and have to use the dc keyboard to noclip out of the wall if you load a save from anyplace other than the specified save spots.

Anthony thats what happened to me playing HL: Paranoia...first I only saved when it said I could, then I noticed the save option was always available, so I did use it. Then I died, reloaded and was like below the ground and stuck. Dont have a keyboard, didnt know what to do, had to start all over again. -_-
Now I know why its been so strongly pointed out to save only when it tells you to...

Haha yeah. At first, mods couldn't even have saves, but Override found out that by saving the map on a PC, and then renaming the save to the Dreamcast save name, it will allow you to save at the specified points in game. Pretty awesome that they could get saves working in the first place with PC mods on a system that was never intended to run the mods at all haha.

This is a pretty large mod, well, the areas you can go to are large, and all inter connected, so in a way, it is kind of like an open world mod.

Yeah, its a pretty cool game. I like the atmosphere. Its just a little too hard for me, at least because of the very few save points in combination with playing with the regular controller. Also medipacks seem to be pretty rare, or I just miss them...?

Yeah, this is a very hard mod. You could always turn on God Mode. go to options screen and enter in the cheat "Otis Loves Dreamcast", then back out of that screen, go down to select cheats and enable God Mode.

Also, for All weapons/infinite ammo, you can enter "Dreamcast gives firepower" and "Gordon ignores explosives"

No keyboard required and it works on all Half-Life games too.

Godmode would make me feel kinda cheap. Havent used cheats in a long time... but I guess All weapons/infinite ammo would be okay, so I could just "fire out of all pipes" (roughly translated from a german saying, means just shooting constantly with all I got) but without godmode, so the enemies would still have a chance...

How do you get passed the part in the fist level of part one where you're in the water after your car gets hit by lightening?

I just downloaded this game and attempted to burn it with Disc Juggler. This game is not working at all. How can I make it work? I have downloaded other games and have had this problem.

konpsp. Use ImageBurn with the Dreamcast extentsions. This worked fine for me. My only problem is its really dark on my TV and I can't get out of the River at the opening when the Car Crashes, and I drown after flailing around a bit.

Yeah, Discjuggler hates Half-Life and its mods.

For those of you that can't get out of the water, swim up and take some breaths, then when you are ok, go down by the other end of the lake and there will be a shaft somewhere you can swim through.

I had to turn up my brightness on my TV because the mod itself is just naturally dark.

Did you get this package here, install it and add the Discjuggler plugin files to the root directory of the program?

Oh, Sunny Beach! This is fantastic! I still have all the PC Gamer discs with the mods somewhere, but playing this on a dreamcast? B.A.

Yes sir! My friend Dreammatrix ported all 3 episodes, and they are on 1 disc! It is surreal playing HL PC mods on a Dreamcast, it still surprises me how amazing this port and Paranoia is.

Please try out Paranoia, it is a lot like the PC game S.t.a.l.k.e.r., and has a very creepy atmosphere.

I love this mod, but for some reason, I can't die on the first episode, which takes away all the fun. Anyone know why this is?

All Dreamcast games here are selfbooting. We don"t mess with that ancient early scene release crap. ;)

If I uploaded it I can assure you its selfbooting.

And hey, don't feel stupid, we all were all newbies when we first got into the Dreamcast. You gotta start somewhere.

I've tried reburning this game many times with different burn methods, each time I can't die on episode 1. When my health gets to around 8-3, it stops decreasing as I get hit. This takes all of the fun out of the game, as there's no real challenge to it or fear of getting hit. I honestly think this is the result of Episode 1 replacing "Hazard Course," which I'm pretty sure in the original Half-Life you can't die in.

If the extracted game is less than 700 MB it will and since the download is only 151.17 MB I would say the chances are it is less than 700 MB
Guitar_Man19 9 months ago
It will fit on a normal 700mb 80 min CD-R.

I was playing Episode Two: Rest In Pieces.
Fairly far into the game, I got into an air ventilation shaft and was climbing up a ladder.
Mutant "babies" (4 of them) were falling from above and being sliced and diced by the large overhead fan.
One made it downward past me.
I swung around and aimed below to shoot it, ............
AND THE DAMN GAME LOCKED UP!
AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!
I didn't see any places to save at any prompts, so I have to start over from the beginning.
Was having a good time until then.
Pardon me......... Now I need a beer.
